Questions, answered plainly

Everything about the data, the scoring, Premium Analytics, tokens and plans. If it isn't answered here, the Transparency page goes deeper on method, and About tells you how to reach us.

The data

01Where does the data come from?+
Official and institutional sources first: SEC EDGAR daily indexes, central-bank and regulator feeds, government releases, and structured data like USGS and GDACS — plus curated secondary coverage for breadth. Every item keeps its source name and URL, and the footer of every page reports how many sources are currently healthy.
02What does the insider stream include?+
SEC Form 4 filings parsed transaction-by-transaction — insider, role, type, price, quantity and value — with open-market purchases and sales separated from routine awards and option exercises. Congressional trading disclosures are listed when their public mirrors are reachable, including per-transaction line items parsed from machine-readable PTR filings.
03How fresh are the pages?+
Source scans are free and run on the desk's own schedule; each page shows when its data was last compiled. Analyses show their own generation time, and rows that have aged out of the live window remain browsable in the archive, marked archived.
04Can I see data that has left the front page?+
Yes. Events, filings and insider trades are archived append-only — the pagers on each desk walk back through everything ever cached, and search covers the archive too.

Scoring & analytics

05How are event scores computed?+
Deterministically. An event score blends the strongest evidence impact (52%), corroboration confidence across distinct sources (33%), and evidence volume (15%). Recency decays linearly across the scan window. Stories with no market transmission path — celebrity, entertainment, lifestyle — are demoted so financial signal stays on top. The full formulas are on the Transparency page.
06What is Premium Analytics?+
Iterative AI research over the primary sources behind a specific event, filing, insider pattern, politician or company — analysing the evidence, searching for what's missing, refining — that produces a market-impact read across three horizons. Members run it on demand; the light ranking passes that keep the pages fresh stay automatic and deterministic.
07What happens when I run Premium Analytics?+
The run starts immediately and the finished analysis lands on the relevant page in minutes, marked as analyzed. Each run costs a flat, published number of tokens (100 for a standard analysis) from your monthly quota, which resets on the first of each month. Your desk always shows exactly how many tokens you have left, and a failed run is refunded in full.
08Who can see the analyses I run?+
Only you. Analyses you run are private to your account and live on your desk. The public analyses on each page come from the desk's own automatic schedule or the operator's approvals — never from member runs.
09What do insider and congressional analyses look at?+
Beyond the transactions themselves, the analysis profiles the person: who they are, the executive, board and committee positions they hold (here and elsewhere), their full reported trading history across companies and asset classes, and the public standing around them — so a habitual portfolio shuffle reads differently from an out-of-pattern conviction trade.

Accounts & plans

10What does a free account get me?+
Everyone can read the ranked pages and the day's top analyses on each desk, free. A free account adds 200 tokens a month to run your own Premium Analytics, plus bookmarks and a private desk. No card, no trial clock.
11What do Core, Plus and Pro cost, and what do they add?+
Core is $6/month with 1,200 tokens a month. Plus is $30/month and unlocks the full Premium Analytics library with 7,500 tokens. Pro is $100/month with 30,000 tokens — tokens get cheaper per analysis as plans grow (50¢ on Core, 40¢ on Plus, ~33¢ on Pro), and annual billing lowers the effective monthly price further and combined multi-source analysis. One card-required 7-day trial is available per account — you start it explicitly from the Pricing page. Compare them on the Pricing page.
12How do tokens work?+
Every plan includes a monthly quota of tokens that resets on the first of each month. A Premium Analytics run costs a flat 100 tokens on any desk; a Pro combined analysis costs 250. Prices are published up front, your desk and account menu show the exact count remaining, and failed runs are refunded.
13How does payment work? Can I cancel?+
Checkout and subscriptions run on Stripe; Silecat never sees or stores your card details. Your one 7-day trial requires a card and rolls into the selected plan unless you cancel. You can upgrade during the trial without resetting its end date, and upgrade an active plan any time. Cancellation leaves the plan active through the paid period, then returns the account to Free without losing the desk.
14How do I sign in?+
Three ways, none of which need a password: a six-digit code to your email, Google, or Facebook. The same email across providers resolves to the same account.
15Is this investment advice?+
No. Silecat compiles and ranks publicly available information and states its uncertainty. Signals are informational, may be wrong or incomplete, and are not personalised recommendations. Decisions remain yours — the full disclosure is in our Policies.
